We formed AFROCAB (Australians for Refunds on Cans and Bottles) in 2005, in order to represent the views of Australians who want something done about the growing number of cans and bottles that litter our country.

We believe that the only proven solution to this problem, is a can and bottle refund system, similar to that which operates in South Australia and many other countries.

We are advocates for this because we know it is good for both the community and the environment. It worked here with glass soft drink bottles in the 1960's and we know it works in South Australia today.

We aim to counter the lobbying power of the large, foreign-owned, multi-national beverage companies. They strongly oppose the introduction of refund systems in other states of Australia and in other countries. We believe that without refund systems, their drink containers will continue to increasingly litter our country.

AFROCAB's first major initiative is the Community Litter Report. We hope it will make governments aware of how big this problem really is.
